Typeface reseach homework

Return to main page

What is research? Before you design a product you must first do some research to fill any gaps in your knowledge. Before we start to design the torch we must learn about Tango's adverts, who the target market is and you'll need to research what different typefaces mean.

What you must do: Cut out and stick down 2 typefaces from packaging and draw 2 more, different typefaces then evaluate them.

How to get a good mark:

-Your evaluation must tell me the type of typeface it is.

-Your evaluation must say why it is used for the product in as much detail as possible.

-Your drawings should be neat and use colour if possible.

Good evaluation:

"Kenco have used a serif typeface because it appeals to adults. It is adults that buy coffee. A serif typeface also makes the coffee look high quality because it looks tradition and people think traditional things are made better."

A great piece of work by Kerry Arden

This is a good example of the homework.

Bad Evaluation:

"Serif coz it's good quality. People like good quality stuff, like wot i do!"

Attention:

We are still looking for good examples to add to this website. If you put enough effort into your homework it could appear here.
